Hello, Friends. Welcome back for another Friday spent with Lisa-Jo and the Five-minute crowd. Today, we’re taking five minutes to write on the prompt Grateful. Do you have five minutes to write, read, or both? Why don’t you join us?
1. Write for 5 minutes flat – no editing, no over thinking, no backtracking.
2. Link back here and invite others to join in.
3. And then absolutely, no ifs, ands or buts about it, you need to visit the person who linked up before you & encourage them in their comments. Seriously. That is, like, the rule. And the fun. And the heart of this community…
Today’s Prompt: Grateful
When I feel happy and lighthearted, I set the radio station in the car to the pop music station. I turn the volume up and I sing along, and I don’t worry about the fact that I’m a driving cliche in my mini-van with my blaring Katy Perry. When the week turns rough, like an open sea with a storm impending, I turn on the classical station. No words, only music to soothe the waves of my emotions.
It’s been a classical music kind of week.
This morning, before playing the next instrumental classic, the honey-toned fellow on the radio said “one doesn’t reach a crescendo, one passes through it.” I felt as if I’d been to church because that’ll preach, Mr. Honey-Tone. We are currently passing through a crescendo of sorts, and I can’t even imagine what the high note will sound like. The events of this week have brought me low, and then swooped down and swept me, somewhat reluctantly, off my feet. Our life is building, reaching, passing through the waves and storm clouds to something higher.
It’s a crazy mix of good and bad and downright ugly. We’re passing through. Somewhere on the other side there is a high note, and then there is the respite from noise, the embrace of silence. And for that I am grateful.
