Hello, Friends. Welcome back for another Friday spent with Lisa-Jo and the Five-minute crowd. Today, we’re taking five minutes to write on the prompt Messenger. Do you have five minutes to write, read, or both? Why don’t you join us?
1. Write for 5 minutes flat – no editing, no over thinking, no backtracking.
2. Link back here and invite others to join in.
3. And then absolutely, no ifs, ands or buts about it, you need to visit the person who linked up before you & encourage them in their comments. Seriously. That is, like, the rule. And the fun. And the heart of this community…
Today’s Prompt: Messenger
I’ve heard that our tears are tiny messengers and if we are to know ourselves, we must follow their trail. Our tears lead us to some of the answers about who we are and what we believe in. Last night, my husband came to bed just as I turned the last page and shut the cover on Wonder, the book I was reading. I blinked back hard so he couldn’t see, but when he asked, I admitted I was crying. Apparently, this is what I do in bed now. After long days of holding everything back, I finally have time to feel all the feelings.
I shoved the book at him and made him promise me he would read it. I thought of the time when I will share it with my daughter. I thought of sharing it with you. I am so grateful for books that bring me to tears, that strike me with such wonder and joy at the beauty of the story. I’m so grateful when people give me sharper eyes, when they tenderize my heart with the gentle hammer of their words. The author sent me a message, and I read it by following the trail of my tears.
Messengers remind us of everything we already know. The broken things of this world can be made new. Hope is not lost. Life will never be perfect, but it will be beautiful.
