As someone who sits comfortably in seasons of lament such as Lent, it is easy for me to mistrust the simple happiness that arrives on the warm winds of spring. I find myself inclined to sit in despair beside the Tomb, when I am called to practice the joy of resurrection.
Perhaps, like me, you need a reminder that this is a season of God making all things new. Or, you may live in this space of freedom, and you would enjoy a companion this spring.
I wrote a short collection of spring prayers to accompany us as we join all of creation in celebrating risen-ness. You may use them however you like, but I recommend choosing a single prayer to recite throughout the week. Words sink into muscle memory through repetition, and whose heart doesn’t need hearty, happy, healthy words to draw from in hard times?
