Hello, dear readers. I’m writing to you from the kitchen table. As I write, the ceiling above me creaks with the weight of my husband’s footfall as he paces through his fifth conference call. My daughter jokingly throws a running shoe at her brother, who leaps up from the sofa to chase her. This alarms the dog, who barks and jumps to lick their laughing faces. In the center of this rousing chorus of family life, I sit at a crumb strewn table, and I write.
This is social distancing in the time of a pandemic.
This week, as I’ve tried to make friends with uncertainty, you’ve come to mind often. You in your own homes, with your responsibilities, your work, your pets, and your families. You with your worries, your frustrations, your unanswered questions. You sitting at your kitchen table, wondering what comes next.
I see you. Your concerns, large and small, are welcome here.
I don’t have much to say at the moment, or perhaps I have too many words that are not quite ready. But, I have created the following playlist of sorts–a collection of peaceful posts during the pandemic. If your words or prayers appear impossible to capture, like shadows on a sidewalk, I have words you may borrow.
7 Peaceful Posts:
Practicing Peace in the Face of Fear
When the Weight of the World Weighs Heavy
How to Sit with Both Sadness and Hope
How to Recognize the Rehearsing of Our Anxieties and Walk a Better Way
When Our Weakness Becomes a Strength
I hope these essays bring you life and light in this time of uncertainty. Would you share with a friend if you find solace here? You and your families are in my prayers.
